The Fact Sheet of Rafflesia tuan mudae

This species commonly inhabits hill slope near to stream-banks on well-drained soils in primary or severally degraded forest. It grows at lowland to upper dipterocarp forest with elevation of 84m – 430m. Population size for each site is different, as in Padawan, between 5 – 15 buds but in Gunung Gading, only 1 -5 buds in each host plant, ecology on this species still unclear to science. The flowers buds mortality rate for is high, 92% of flower bud will die before it bloom. Based on our record, flower bud found rotten at age 3-4 months.
